Yoga Retreat in the Himalayas

Himalayan Yoga Retreat 2020Himalayan Orchard, Rukhla, India

Autumn 2025
7 nights

When people see what it’s like here at Himalayan Orchards, they’ll be queuing up to come!”  Marisa

Come and spend a week in the remote mountain village of Rukhla in India, home of yoga. Set in beautiful countryside, this tranquil setting is the perfect backdrop for deepening into the yoga practice. Over the course of a week, you will have time to really receive the benefits of yoga as you practise each day. A massage therapist will be staying with us at the retreat, so you can book in for optional treatments. There will also be space to take time for yourself, go on guided walks in the surrounding countryside, rest and rejuvenate.

Price includes:

  • 7 nights accommodation in double/twin/three bed rooms
  • All meals (home-made and mostly home-grown)
  • Daily yoga & meditation classes
  • Guided walks and day trips to local areas

Price excludes:

  • Flights
  • Travel insurance
  • Visa
  • Optional activities
  • Taxi transfers from Chandigarh
  • Massage treatments

Most days there will be 2 yoga classes per day, with one day off midweek to allow for longer excursions.

The morning session will be the more dynamic practice, consisting mainly of asana around a daily theme. The level will be set according to the ability of students present at the retreat so that all levels, from beginner to advanced, will be able to enjoy the practice. The afternoon session, will be a soothing and nurturing yoga practice consisting mainly of restoratives, pranayama, mantra and meditation. A delicious vegetarian evening meal will then be served.

On some days, there will be organised excursions on offer, such as – a picnic at the mountain pass, with spectacular views of the snowy peaks, a dip in a mountain river pool, a trip to the local tailor in town for those who fancy taking home some beautiful Indian outfits….The rest of the time will be free to do as you please … going on forest hikes, visits to local temples, reading in the orchard, watching birds, etc.

If you want to visit North India and practice yoga in the most beautiful surroundings by nature and local life. The Himalayan Orchard is the most peaceful and welcoming place. a home from home. Caroline

If you want to practice yoga in a beautiful, remote location, and experience a week in a beautiful home with delicious, healthy food, this is the place to come. I also loved the ethos of Himalayan Orchard – living with sustainability. Kay

A superb relaxing time, fantastic yoga, important to have the luxury of coming away on a yoga retreat with your favourite known yoga teacher. The Himalayan Orchard was full of rustic charm, which only heightened the unique experience. Delicious vegetarian Indian food, wonderful hosts who looked after all our needs. Rosalind

The food was fabulous – every meal so varied and tasty – wonderful tastes of India. Accommodation basic, but clean and comfortable, welcoming and simple, I didn’t need anything else. Loved the log fires and the farm. Loved the walks and all the outings. Yoga – I know Lucinda to be an excellent and accommodating teacher, which is why I came with her.

Yoga, food, accommodation and Ayurvedic treatments were all excellent. The food was outstanding. The Ayurvedic treatments were an unexpected bonus and something completely new to me. Having twice daily yoga was a luxury and very informative. Having never experienced a retreat before, I found it relaxing and restoring. Linda
